Art therapy - a form of free self-expression through painting and other forms of art is a popular form of psychotherapy used today. I think it's one of the most beautiful ways to heal and allow a mind to explore its capabilities. It's a new perspective on therapy and especially mandala art. Mandala art is an amazing form of art therapy. With the introduction of adult colouring books to combat stress, mandalas have become more popular than ever. Not only is mandala art stress relieving, but is also a super creative and fun hobby.
Mandala - "sanskrit" - for circle or completion. Mandalas have a significance in many cultures and religions including Bhuddism and Hinduism. The Mandala itself has an importance as it encapsulates the universality and wholeness of everything. Mandalas are often linked to the creator...the beauty of it gives an opportunity to explore the beauty of existence, to reflect on the micro and macro, and dive into understanding the blessings of this world. The whole idea of creation is a mandala, a circle with a center filled with patterns. Whether that's the Milky Way, or the animal cell; its all an intrinsic feeling of wholeness.
The question that may come to mind is how it's used in modern art therapy? Mandalas are a reflective way to release your emotions in the form of colours, shapes, and patterns. The time one draws a mandala will reflect their inner feelings in that specific moment. It's like an unconscious diary. It's a self-portrait of the present moment. It's about living the emotions in the present...feeling them in their most heated moment. It's about understanding inferiority, superiority, and insecurity.
It's about diving right into the ocean to explore the bottom of the ice berg.
